DC High Voltage Tester

Over our many years of working in the industry using the existing high voltage test equipment, we realized that it could be improved. Our DC high voltage tester uses an independent voltage supply for the Hipot. It eliminates the needle swing on the hipot Amp meter. The voltage regulator that is presently used on other high voltage testers did not eliminate the swing on the Amp meter. That was making Amp readings at the time intervals very difficult. Plus, the voltage regulator was heavy, so 2 men had to handle it. RPGS Inc's high voltage tester allows one man to carry it with one hand very easily. It makes it easy on a person's body.

Wedge Tapper Trolley

Through our wedge tapping experiences over the years, we found that generator wedge tightness testing could be improved if we created a device that would take the human error element out of the equation. RPGS Inc created the concecpt of a trolley for the Equotip 550 harness tester that would housse the hammer and renmove all elements of human error out of the eaquation resulting in a much more reliable and accurate measuremnent of the tightness of the wedges in the generator.

Through my experiences of wedge tightness testing, I always observed the generator repair craftsman squeezed in the bore of a small or medium-large generator core. Thos was very hard on the knees and both hands were busy with the Equotip D hammer crawling through the generator bore. It was very unpleasant and extremely hard on the parts of the body, especially when testing the top wedges of the generator.

To make the job much easier, less stressful and much more comfortable on the body, RPGS Inc. designed a Wedge Trolley. The trolley is on wheels and held in place to the core with 8 strong rear earth magnets. After the trolley is set to the core slot, it is handled with one hand and the other hand is free to support the body in the most comfortable position possible. If for any reason you have to stop tapping (coffee breaks, lunch or toilet needs), you can leave trolley in position on the wedge that you last tapped. When you return, you can continue tapping from where you left off. This will be way easier on the knees and the back of the craftsmen that is performing the wedge tightness tapping test. The hammer ("D" device) that is mounted on the trolley will always be able to take the data at the right angle to the wedge resulting in a very accurate measurement.

The trolley is 10.5" in length and has of 2 rails. Each rail consists of 8 teflon wheels. Each wheel is mounted on the shaft and it rotates on 2 miniature ball bearings (32 bearings in total). There are 4 magnets that are mounted on each rail. These are Neodymium rare earth magnets N52 with a pulling strength of 16.8 lbs. The Equotip D hammer is mounted between the rails and is adjustable to suit most generator designs since the wedge depth from the surface of the iron to the top of the wedge is different from generator to generator. This unique design was developed by RPGS Inc. through it's extensive generator experience.
